For direct views of the flowing Sindh River, select the Deluxe Cozy Double. What are the room heating timings and how is room warmth provided?
Rooms feature dual climate control: central boiler heating operates during evening and morning peak cold hours (typically 5:00 PM to 10:00 AM). In addition, rooms are equipped with heated electric bed warmers (heated blankets) and supplementary room heaters 24/7 to ensure complete thermal comfort even when outside temperatures drop below freezing.
Is running hot water available 24 hours a day in guest bathrooms?
Yes. Continuous running hot water is supplied via central boilers and geysers during peak morning (6:00 AM – 11:00 AM) and evening hours (6:00 PM – 11:00 PM). If you require hot water outside peak hours, our 24/7 room service desk provides instant hot water bucket delivery upon request.
Does the hotel Wi-Fi work when cellular mobile networks drop in Sonmarg?

Yes. Our multi-cuisine kitchen maintains dedicated cooking areas, separate cookware, and strict preparation protocols for pure vegetarian and Jain meals. In addition to authentic Kashmiri Wazwan, our chefs prepare North Indian curries, dal, and pure Jain dishes (cooked without onion and garlic) upon request.
What authentic Kashmiri Wazwan dishes are available on the restaurant menu?
Our chefs prepare traditional ceremonial Wazwan specialties, including Rogan Josh, Rista, Gushtaba, Mutton Yakhni, Aab Gosht, Mirchi Korma, and Seekh Kababs slow-cooked with mountain spices and pure saffron.

Hotel Akbar is located 3.8 km from the Thajiwas Glacier base trail. Guests can reach the glacier via a scenic 45-minute nature walk, local union taxi, or pony ride. To protect our guests from local pony union overcharging, our front desk provides official fixed union rate cards and arranges verified local ponies and guides directly from the property.
Can private cabs drive directly to the hotel during winter snowfall (December – February)?
During heavy winter snowfall, local authorities may mandate snow chains or 4x4 vehicles between Gagangir and Sonmarg. Hotel Akbar maintains snow-cleared private parking on-site, and our travel desk can coordinate non-stop 4x4 winter transfers from Srinagar Airport directly to our reception.
Does the hotel provide accommodation, parking, and facilities for tourist drivers?
Yes. We provide free, secure private parking for tourist vehicles. We offer driver washrooms on-site and can arrange comfortable driver lodging and meal options at designated driver quarters nearby. Please notify us at check-in to assist your driver.
Does the hotel provide airport transfers from Srinagar?
