Refund & Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: June 29, 2026

1. Booking Advances

To guarantee a reservation at Hotel Akbar Sonmarg, an advance deposit (equivalent to at least one night's room charge) is required. Bookings without advance deposits are held on a tentative basis and can be cancelled by the hotel without prior notice.

2. Cancellation Timelines & Refund Rates

Refunds for cancelled bookings are determined by the time elapsed between the cancellation request and the scheduled check-in time:

  • 72 hours or more: 100% refund of the advance deposit (minus any transaction fees).
  • Within 48 to 72 hours: 50% refund of the advance deposit.
  • Less than 48 hours / No Show: No refund. The entire advance deposit will be forfeited.

3. Refund Processing Time

Approved refund amounts will be processed back to the original payment source (bank account, credit card, or digital wallet) within 7 to 10 working days from the date of confirmation of the cancellation.

4. Force Majeure & Weather Conditions

Please note that Sonmarg is a remote, high-altitude alpine valley. We do not offer refunds, modifications, or cancellations for booking disruptions resulting from force majeure events. These include but are not limited to: landslides, heavy snowfall, sudden roadblocks, VIP movement restrictions, local strikes, extreme weather anomalies, political crises, or flight/train cancellations preventing guests from arriving.
